2008 August West Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands. This rich cuvee of pure Santa Lucia Highlands fruit is one of the best and most secret deals on fine Pinot Noir out there! August West is a great partnership of Gary Francsioni, Harold Graham and Ed Kurtzman, with Gary owning the Rosella's Vineyard and a share of the Garys' Vineyard with Gary Pisoni and family, and Ed Kurtzman winemaker, the guy who makes Roar, Freeman and his own label Sandler. Last year Ed and Gary scored big with Robert Parker and the Wine Spectator, with almost every wine racking up 90 or more points! This vintage continues this wonderful trend with big and perfumed fruit that showcases the Santa Lucia Highlands terroir perfectly.
